Description of Examinations
Proctology
is a branch of surgery encompassing the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the large intestine, rectum, anal canal, and anus. At our proctology clinic, we treat anal varices (hemorrhoids), anal fissures and fistulas, solitary rectal ulcer, faecal incontinence, anal thrombosis, and other conditions.
Rectoscopy
is an examination of the anal canal and rectum using a disposable speculum — a rectoscope. The examination is performed in the lateral or knee-elbow position. The purpose of rectoscopy is to assess the morphology of the mucous membrane of the lower large intestine. Where necessary, the physician may collect material for bacteriological or histopathological examination during the procedure.
Rubber band ligation of hemorrhoids
is a procedure in which elastic bands are applied to compress and close the varicose veins. The treatment causes only minimal discomfort to the patient.
